Course Schedule
  1. This schedule lists the lectures, labs, quizzes & exams given in Microscopic Anatomy.  Although the Microanatomy sessions are also listed in the schedule that is part of each individual module guide, we provide you with this separate listing to give you an overview of the entire course.
  2. This schedule indicates exactly what subject matter is included on every quiz, exam, or scavenger hunt.
  3. This schedule includes the reading assignments for lectures and labs.  Lecturers and lab instructors operate under the assumption that you have read these pages and become familiar with their contents before coming to class.
  4. Location of Classes:
    • For medical students, the lectures, clinical correlations and slide reviews are held in Cohen Auditorium (Auditorium A) at Queen Lane.  Labs are held in the Multidisciplinary Teaching Laboratory (Lab B) at Queen Lane
    • For Interdepartmental Medical Science (IMS) students, lectures will be simulcast to the Center City campus.  Labs will be held in Center City.  Consult your instructors for lecture and lab room assignments.
  5. Note that most lectures last 50 minutes, but some go as long as 80 minutes without a break.  Whenever two 50-minute lectures are scheduled back-to-back, there will be a 10 minute break between them.

Key for Reading Assignments:

R = Histology, A Text & Atlas by Ross & Pawlina, 5th edition (the required text)

W = Wheater’s Functional Histology by Young et al., 5th edition (the required atlas)

*A = Molecular Biology of the Cell by Alberts, et al., 4th edition (recommended reading)

* The readings from Alberts are not required but may be helpful since they cover some of the lecture material from the early part of the course in greater detail than the required text.
